Mullingar Camino Walk 2015
On Saturday last the 22km walk from Fore Abbey to Mullingar Cathedral took place. On behalf of the organizers and the walkers, Fr Michael wishes to thank all who helped make the day such a success. There was a huge sense of goodwill displayed across the communities of North Westmeath.
We would like to express thanks to all those who opened their homes and provided hospitality to the walkers. The bells ringing out across Fore and Collinstown, the warmth of the welcome at the stops at Clondelever, Loughegar School, Scally’s Forge and by the retailers en route up to the Cathedral was outstanding. We express gratitude to the local authority, media and the Gardai for their support.
Thanks to all the stewards and the people who left out water, seats and sweets en route helping the walkers get home and adding to the enjoyment of the day. A special mention goes to those who guided the visually impaired on the day.
A six minute video of the pilgrim walk is available on the parish website for sharing on the social media #MullingarMonks.
