What earth has given and human hands have made

The ancient festival of Bealtaine marked the end of winter and the beginning of the summer season.

Great bonfires were lit around the country, as has been re-enacted locally at Uisneach this weekend.

The bonfire at Bealtaine represented a time of purification and transition, heralding in the season in the hope of a good harvest later in the year.

God our Father,

Lord of the sea and sky,

Creator of the universe,

pour out your blessing upon us at winter's end

and in the hope of summer joy.

Gently and generously watch over your people in all our needs.

We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen
